Welcome to the Study Guide to the Jedi Masters Holocron!

The concept of the Study Guide came about one day with the thought that "We have no masters to guide us!" True we have current church leaders, etc. BUT whenever I went to them, any one of them, and asked them to use their calling of stewardship over me to help me get an answer I was always told, to my face, "No. I won't do that."
The Book of Mormon sets a pattern of kings and others turning to people with the gifts of prophecy*, revelation*, and having stewardships over people. These people when asked, would go to the Lord and ask in behalf of the person. They would get an answer and bring it back to the person. The person got a direct, revealed answer by one who could receive to the one who was struggling. At the time, I was struggling. The in-my-face refusals by teachers, bishops, Relief Society presidents, and stake presidents to aid me in seeking answers for my struggles let me know that the pattern in the Book of Mormon had been lost.
I wanted to re-create that pattern. But how? By using the Book of Mormon itself! The easiest teacher/master to follow was, of course, Nephi. I imagined myself walking next to him and having conversations with him. It was wonderful! Then I shifted focus to another prophet in the BoM. After several of these I realized that this is what was missing in my life and that this was satisfying one need I had for getting through my struggles.
So today I am glad I was told 'no' by those others because now I have a more personal connection not only with the book but with the faithful authors of it. In my mind I can walk through the forest beside Ammon and talk with him being fairly certain of his answers. I can watch Gideon getting angry and charging after king Noah with sword drawn. I can also see Gideon diverting the soldiers away from Alma as he hid in the thicket, even bringing him food in secret.
This is what I want this Study Guide to the Jedi Masters Holocron to do for you. Make it real. Make it heart-felt deep. Topic discussions don't do that. Living with Nephi, Ammon, and Gideon can do that. And it makes righteousness attainable. These were real people. They lived, breathed, had trials, and overcame those trials by holding onto Jesus and His righteousness. When you see them and understand their thinking, and their belief systems behind their actions, you can realize that you can have the same power to overcome that they did.
There are more gems packed into that little book than you can now imagine. Getting into the minds and hearts of these masters will bring those gems into your view. Oh! The discoveries that await you! I am excited for your new beginning!

A little more about me. Yes-I know about priesthood blessings. I am a life-time member. My parents were converts in the mission field in upstate NY. My family was the only LDS family in the entire city were we lived. No exaggeration. I grew up defending my faith and the Book of Mormon. My main problem was that my parents were, shall we say, not great at parenting. I had no one to turn to for a mentor in religious things. My parents tried their best but they left a lot to be desired. This left a desire in me for such mentoring. I hope you had good parents who were good mentors for you. I had to turn to bishops. Some were good and at least answered my questions. Others not so great. And none that I could "walk beside" and learn from in the master-padawan way. No one that I could observe daily. I was very much in seclusion. This was often times painful for me. However it did give me the opportunity to think independently and do my own research. I am glad for that. Now that I'm grown I can create the world I want to live in - in a small way. So I am here. Creating this world. Join me, please.
